Memorials
-
I first worked on a temporary memorial for a dear friend who passed away in 2017. Publicly acknowledging his passing with a physical memorial felt really helpful in the process of coming to terms with the sudden lack of his physical presence.
I am still driven to make memorials that give a moment to celebrate and publicly acknowledge someone who is no longer here physically, and I am asking questions about how to go about it. Currently, about choosing people to memorialize (how, what resources am I looking through, how am I choosing specific people), or about setting up some sort of way to allow people to request a memorial made.
Recently I have been using Niemand ist Vergessen Berlin, an organization that honors people who were killed in hate crimes in Berlin, as a resource.
